Exuma

The Exuma Islands are located approximately 150 (One Hundred Fifty)  miles south of Nassau, in the southern Bahamas.  This island is the most beautiful island in the world.  It lies in balmy Caribbean waters and benefits from mild ocean breezes sweeping up from the Atlantic Ocean so that visitors never feel either too hot or too cool and year round they experience nothing but mild climates.

The island is surrounded by crystal clear ocean waters that reflect sunlight from the white floors to create patterns of white, blue green, and deep blue hues with the ethereal movement of both sun and clouds overhead.  Colorful fishes can be seen in swimming merrily in schools below the waters surface side by side with friendly sting rays and mantas gliding gracefully through these pristine waters.  The island is also distinguished and valued in terms of it's soft,  magnificent, white, sandy beaches.  The Exuma sand has been called "sugar" sand because of its fine, non-abrasive quality to the touch.  It's soft surface white beaches extend right from your front door down into the ocean waters leaving a soft sandy shoreline perfect for wading and taking long morning walks under the awakening skies.

There are 365 individual islands, one for each day of the year, in the Exuma chain.  The entirety of the Exuma Islands totals approximately 176 (One Hundred Seventy Six)  square miles or 112,640 acres of land.  The largest of the Islands are Great and Little Exuma, which are connected by a roadway and are comprised of over 112 (One Hundred Twelve)  square miles or 71,680 acres.

The capital of Exuma is Georgetown, which has remained very small but is gaining in travel destination popularity.   Georgetown is the annual host for major boating regattas and festivals.  It is now becoming more common to see hundreds of boats gathering in the harbor of Georgetown.  The small hotels in Georgetown are now regularly sold out.  No major developments currently exist to accommodate the growing tourism.

Great Exuma has a small, but modern, international airport with customs friendly to most countries of the world.  This point of entry is designed to handle Boeing 747 class aircraft.  Deep water near the island will permit the entry of large cruise ships and accommodate docks with deep water access.  For anyone who desires to move to this area and to purchase a luxury condominium from Alexander Development, the Bahamian Government will offer permanent residency.  There is no personal, corporate, or income tax in the Bahamas.  Due to the lack of promotion and development in these islands, they have been unnoticed in the past by the mainstream of tourism in the Bahamas which has flowed through Nassau, but the Exumas have a much greater potential to become the center of tourism in the Bahamas than has ever been realized by Nassau and far beyond what Nassau is able to achieve today. This is due to the more open and unrestricted opportunities for design and development in a much more desirable location.  These opportunities include the lack of previous development which might conflict with new designs and the ability to create an integrated image and personality that attracts the attention of the world.

The Exuma Islands and Alexander Development are on the edge of world recognition for tourism.
